Transfer of the Institute of Medical Molecular Genetics

With the retirement of Professor Wolfgang Berger on January 31, 2025, the Institute of Medical Molecular Genetics has been dissolved as such, and its functions have been integrated into the Institute of Medical Genetics.

After many years of pioneering research and diagnostic work, the Institute of Medical Molecular Genetics has been dissolved with the retirement of Professor Wolfgang Berger on January 31, 2025. Its functions have been integrated into the Institute of Medical Genetics.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Berger for his outstanding leadership, dedication, and invaluable contributions to medical molecular genetics.

To mark his retirement, the farewell symposium "Eye Meets Genes" took place on October 28, 2024.
The event brought together renowned experts in medical genetics and ophthalmology, providing an opportunity to honor the scientific achievements of Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Berger and his team.

In addition to his scientific contributions, his significant commitment toFAMH, the Swiss Society of Medical Genetics (SSMG), the promotion of young scientists, and collaboration with patient organizations was highlighted.
